葛布の着物
江戸時代、葛布は公家の装束、武士の装束でした。
直垂、裃、道中合羽（道中着）、火事羽織、陣羽織、狩衣などに使われました。
明治維新後、公家の洋装化、武士階級の消滅で葛布は装束として姿を消します。
その後、輸出用の壁紙として形を変えて行きます。近年は掛け軸、ハンドバッグ、暖簾などに使われています。
しかし、大井川葛布では そもそも葛布は「着る物」「纏う物」であったことから、もう一度葛布を着る物として作りたい、残したいと考える様になりました。
Kudzu-fu Kimono
In the Edo period, Kudzu-fu was a royal family costume and samurai costume.
Kudzu-fu was used for HItatare, travering coat, fire haori, JIN BAORI over armer coat , and KARIGINU for Priest and Nobility
After the Meiji Restoration, the public class became westernized in Japan.
The samurai class is gone. Therefore, they no longer wear kudzu fu.
After that, the locality produced Kudzu-fu as wallpaper and exported it to the United States and Europe.
Kudzu-fu producers have since made handbags, wallets, curtains and shades.
However, we at Oigawa Kudzu-fu knew that Kudzu-fu was something to wear in the first place.
So, once again, we started making it as a thing to wear.
葛布着物 二藍 ふたあい
Kudzu-fu Kimono Futa -ai Two indigo
緯糸は葛糸 手績みの平糸である。
経糸も 工房畑で一年掛けて栽培した和綿。それを工房で紡いで作った。
経糸が太かったので、厚手の紬のような感じだったが、着物にして羽織ると
葛布にしてはとても軟らかく、張りはありつつも、しばらく着ていると身体に馴染んでくる。工房親方のお気に入りの着物となった。
経糸が和綿なので保温性もあり、静岡のような暖かい処では、真冬でも十分着ることができる。また、汗をかくと、すぐ蒸発して、暑いところでも涼しく着ることができるのが葛布の不思議なところ。 9月の沖縄で着ても問題なかった。
Two indigo, FUTA-AI means indigo and safflower.
We used Ryukyu indigo and safflower as dyes for this work.
The weft is handmade kudzu、
The warp is hand-spun Japanese cotton.
We spent one year cultivating Japanese cotton a raw material of warp, in the workshop field.
Since we made the warp thicker, the resulting kudzu-fu was like a thick pongee.
This kimono of Kudzu-fu is relatively soft, and if I wear it for a while, it will fit into my body.
この葛布の着物の特徴の一つにその光沢にある。上の写真はストロボを焚かなかったが、下の写真はストロボを焚いたら、すごく光ってハレーションを起こすほど。日の光のなか、照明が当たった舞台などで、とても光る。
絹の光沢とはちがって、金属的な光沢である。
葛布は昔、宮中で用いられたり、武士が好んで着たりしたが、この光沢が一つの理由であったと思う。
I feel the characteristic of this kimono is its luster.
I took the upper photo normally, but the lower one was fired with a strobe.
This kimono glows very much in the light of the sun.
This kimono gives more light to the stage lighting
In the past, Nobles and Samurai wore Kudzu-fu in the past, but I think that is one of the reasons why this luster was worn
